Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound lean ground beef 85% lean or higher",
  • "3-5 cloves garlic minced",
  • "1-2 teaspoons fresh ginger grated (or ¼ tsp ground ginger)",
  • "¼-½ cup soy sauce reduced-sodium recommended",
  • "¼-⅓ cup brown sugar"
  • "1-2 teaspoons sesame oil"
  • "¼-½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional",
  • "2-6 green onions chopped",
  • "4 cups cooked rice white, brown, or jasmine",
  • "1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional"

Instructions
 

  • "Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it into small crumbles with a spatula as it browns
  • Once the beef is fully cooked, drain any fat from the skillet to keep the dish light
  • Lower the heat to medium. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Pour this over the beef, stirring to coat. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens
  • Toss in half the chopped green onions, reserving the rest for garnish. Stir them in for freshness
  • Spoon the beef mixture over bowls of hot cooked rice. Top with the remaining green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Notes

Use 85% lean ground beef to reduce grease.
 Fresh garlic and ginger enhance flavor—avoid powders if possible.
Adjust sweetness by starting with 2-3 tablespoons of brown sugar.
